carry a (heavy) load
- Having a difficult or unpleasant responsibility
- 부담을 가지고 있을 때 쓰는 표현.
- 직역하면 '짐을 지다.' 즉 부담을 지다
- ex)
- He has been taking care of his sick mother, and working , studying. He carry a burden.
That's one's burden to bear- A person's difficult or unpleasant responsibility can / should be experienced alone
- 부담을 스스로 지어야 하는 상황에서 쓰는 표현!
- bear 는 참거나 견디는 것을 표현함
- ex)
- 나 요번학기에 7개 수업 들어 힘들어 죽겠어.. 하지만 that's my burden to bear
a load off one's shoulder
- To be relieved of a stressful or difficult burden
- 부담을 내려놓는 것을 표현할 때. 어깨에 짐좀 내려놔! 이런느낌
- ex)
- Exams are now finishing. that's a load off my shoulders
- She list her cellphone last night. someone called her this morning to tell her they found it. that's a load off my shoulders
